snack ideas under 5 minutes

Snacking is a great way to help control hunger in between meals. Unfortunately, snacking can get out of hand if you’re eating unhealthy or way too much of something. I recommend planning out your snacks (just like you would plan out lunches/dinners) that way you have something healthy available. I compiled a list of 20+ of my favorite snack ideas in my latest resource guide but I wanted to share some more ideas…because who doesn’t love healthy snacking?! A simple piece of fruit and/or vegetable are always a great snack idea but if you’re looking for something a little more, this is the post for you! See below for 3 snack ideas that will take you under 5 minutes to make. (Full recipes at the bottom of this post!) More healthy snack ideas here (5 minutes or less).

Chickpea Salad

This salad contains 3 ingredients with chickpeas as the base. I like to top it with cucumber and cherry tomatoes. For more flavour, drizzle lemon juice on top of the salad (this is optional). Feel free to swap the cucumbers and cherry tomatoes for your favorite veggies! Chickpeas are a great source of fibre and protein therefore this salad will help keep you full till your next meal.

Power Wrap

I call this a “power wrap” because it contains so many nutrients such as healthy fats, protein, many vitamins and much more. Feel free to swap a whole grain wrap for a gluten free alternative (such as brown rice wrap). All this topped with cinnamon makes it extremely tasty and satisfying! This is also a great post workout snack as it contains fats, protein and carbohydrates.

Apple Boats

Apple boats are similar to “ants on a log” where celery is topped with peanut butter and raisons. Apple boats are essentially the same but try mixing up the toppings. I like using almonds, dried fruits or even oats! Make sure to choose pure peanut butter (not the Kraft kind!) to avoid any added salts and additives. These are also fun to make with kids!
