Oatmeal & Muesli

Easy Oatmeal

Oatmeal has been one of my favorite breakfast foods lately because it is quick to make and very nourishing. The combination of ingredients in this recipe create a sweet taste with a chewy and crunchy texture. It is a great breakfast to eat on those chilly mornings as it will warm you up and fuel you for the morning ahead!

The oatmeal is topped with muesli which is a mix of nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruit and spices. Muesli can be purchased at most health food stores or easily made at home. It can be used over oatmeal, yogurts, cereals or eaten on its own.

Difference between muesli and granola// Granola normally contains oils, sugar and other sweeteners whereas muesli does not contain oils and is eaten raw.

Avoid commercial prepackaged oatmeal as these are normally filled with refined sugar, many preservatives and other unhealthy ingredients. This recipe is gluten free as the oats used are raw rolled oats. If you are sensitive to gluten, most commercial prepackaged oats are not gluten free as they can be cross contaminated with wheat, rye etc.

To sweeten up this recipe, I like to add pure maple syrup and a sliced apple to the oatmeal once it is done cooking.
