  • Author: Brittney- Exploring Healthy Foods

Description

Sweet and healthier alternative dessert that is easy to make! Dip strawberries in yogurt or dark chocolate for a sweet and tasty treat!

Ingredients

  • Choose your base:
  • Strawberries
  • Banana
  • Pretzels
  • Or basically any fruit!
  • Choose your coating:
  • Yogurt (strawberry will give a nice pink coating!)
  • Greek yogurt (this will provide a thicker coating!)
  • Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Optional Toppings:
  • Almonds, chopped
  • Walnuts, chopped
  • Coconut flakes
  • Icing/Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. PREP
  2. Strawberries: Wash and pat dry. Make sure strawberries are dried as much as possible.
  3. Banana: Slice banana in about half inch pieces
  4. COATING
  5. Yogurt: Dip strawberries/banana/pretzel 3-4 times in yogurt and then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. NOTE: For an opaque coating I recommend dipping, freezing and then dipping again (this will not need to be done with greek yogurt as it is thick enough already). If using greek yogurt you will only need to dip 1-2 times, then place on baking sheet.
  6. Chocolate Bring water in a saucepan to a simmer and place a heatproof bowl overtop with about 1/2-1 cup of dark chocolate chips. Stir often and remove from element when all chocolate is melted. Then dip fruit/pretzels 2-3 times and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Toppings – Optional
  8. If you are not re-dipping yogurt covered strawberries, sprinkle with toppings of your choice! If you are re-dipping in yogurt wait to add toppings.
  9. FRIDGE/FREEZER:
  10. Yogurt/Greek Yogurt: Place yogurt covered fruit/pretzels in freezer for about 20 minutes. If using yogurt (not greek yogurt), you can re-dip fruit/pretzels 2-3 times in yogurt so that it gives an opaque coating. Then place in fridge and enjoy! You can keep these in your freezer and then pull them out about 1-2 hours before planning to eat.
  11. Chocolate: Place chocolate covered fruit/pretzels in refrigerator for about 25-30 minutes. Enjoy!
