What kind of yogurt do I use in this parfait?
I use plain (no sugar added) regular yogurt in this recipe.
Can I make this recipe ahead of time?
Yes, this recipe can be made and kept in the fridge for 2-3 days. The granola may get a bit soggy but the taste is still delicious. I personally don’t mind the taste of the softer granola but feel free to meal prep the recipe without the granola and mix it in right before you are ready to eat.
Also, keep in mind that this recipe makes 2 servings in one jar. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Or feel free to portion this recipe into 2 separate jars.
What makes this parfait healthy?
It’s important to choose the right ingredients to make this recipe as healthy as possible.
- Choose a plain yogurt with no added sugars. Flavoured yogurts can contain high amounts of added sugars that are unnecessary as we can easily sweeten yogurt with fruit (like the raspberries in this recipe!). Yogurt is also a good source of protein.
- The granola you choose will also have an impact of the nutritional value of this recipe. Feel free to make your own or use a store-bought granola recipe. Look for brands with no added (or limited) added sugars. Also, if you are making this recipe gluten-free, make sure to choose a gluten-free granola recipe.
- Pure, natural almond butter is made with minimal ingredients and no added sugars. It is a good source of healthy fats and protein.
- Although this recipe only calls for 1 tsp of chia seeds, they are still a good source of fibre, protein and so much more!
- Sugar-free dark chocolate chips are my personal favourite for this recipe!
